Funk Disco Soul - The Gap Band

The Gap Band deve inicio em 1967 com os irmãos Ronnie, Robert Wilson e Charlie Wilson, Intitulava-se Greenwood, Archer and Pine Street Band, na cidade de Tulsa (Oklahoma).

Veio ao topo do sucesso nas décadas de 70s80s com baladas românticas e canções dançantes de puro funk,r&b e muito soul na veia.

As iniciais G A P só veio a ser adotada oficialmente pelo grupo em 1979 o que suou melhor nos meios de comunicação e Dj’s que consumiam toneladas de decibéis do envolvente som black soul desta consagrada banda.

The Gap Band sem duvida influenciou com suas belas canções, uma geração de artistas servindo como base de inspiração do movimento Hip-hop, assim como o atual Funk americano.

A Banda gravou vários álbuns na década de 70, mais só veio a fazer real sucesso em 79 após assinar com a Mercury Records.

Trabalhando com o produtor Lonnie Simmons a banda gravou "I Don't Believe You Wanna Get Up and Dance" que balançou as pistas de dança mundial. O sucesso desta música erai o que faltava para o Gap estourar no cenário do disco funk.
